Compute Services provides excellence in operations management and project delivery focusing on cost, time to market, risk and supportability. The Oracle Platform Team provides global system, implementation, build and operations engineering for our portfolio of projects and applications under support.

We support 600+ servers globally.  These include physical and virtual machines split by web, application, database and middleware functions.

As a member of our Build/Operations team, your responsibilities will be: 

• Participate in Incident Management and Problem Management processes as a resolver accountable for root cause analysis, resolution and reporting


• Maintain operation, monitoring and integrity of production systems to meet established standards


• Work with System Engineers and Client Aligned Solution Architects to review application environments, reconcile RTO assignments to infrastructure, gather requirements, propose solution and implement


• Perform Design, Build, Testing, Implementation and Go Live tasks for assigned projects impacting the Oracle Platform to ensure success in all tollgates and reviews


• Work with System Engineers and Client Aligned Solution Architects on DR Planning and Testing for business units/clients


• Provide and validate all implementations are fully documented in accordance with delivery process


• Provide and validate all implementations are supportable, meet/exceed requirements and are captured in the configuration management tool


• Validate all production changes are processed according to Change Management policies and procedures


• Provide Subject Matter Expertise in Oracle and Core Technologies to Client Aligned Infrastructure Teams and Application Developer Community


• Interface with internal and external business and technical partners


• Vendor management


• Proactively identify, communicate, present and implement changes to operations procedures, processes or environment


• Perform Platform Reviews to identify gaps, makes recommendations for service improvements and performs/oversees implementation of approved strategies

 Qualifications

• 3+ years of progressive experience in computing, development, architecture or client/server n-tier support experience required


• Experience supporting and troubleshooting technical issues in a large and complex environment


• 2-4 years of experience in setting up, administering and deploying Oracle 10g


• Strong database administration skills including performance and tuning, high availability and backup & recovery


• Strong research, investigation and evaluation skills


• Proven ability to communicate technical and production-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff


• Excellent english communication skills, both written and oral


• Results oriented and highly flexible in work assignments


• Effective skill and experience regarding system behavior and resolution


• Strong customer service focus and excellent interpersonal skills


• Excellent documentation skills

Additional skills desired:

• Unix scripting, bourne shell, Korn shell, Sun Solaris 10, AIX 5.x, EMC Storage (highly desired)


• EMC DMX storage, Job scheduling (Autosys), Oracle 9i, Oracle 9i 64 bit (good familiarity)
